Leeds Golf Design were appointed by Ramsdale Park Golf Club in 2025 to prepare a comprehensive masterplan for the Seely Course, centred on the long-term restoration of the golf course bunkers and the enhancement of the overall playing experience. The study assessed every bunker on the course, considering strategy, playability, sustainability and presentation, whilst respecting the original Martin Hawtree and Simon Gidman design.

The proposals included a complete bunker renovation programme involving the reshaping, repositioning and selective removal of bunkers, together with the construction of new strategic bunkers, new tee extensions, fairway refinements and green surround improvements. Particular emphasis was placed on improving visibility, creating stronger relationships between bunkers and the putting surfaces, and adapting the course to the modern game while maintaining fairness for golfers of all abilities.

The masterplan also identified essential drainage improvements, particularly across the back nine, together with selective woodland management and revised mowing patterns to improve year-round playability, reduce maintenance requirements and enhance the natural character of the course. Sustainability formed a key part of the design philosophy through the rationalisation of bunker sand areas, the introduction of modern bunker construction methods and the use of natural landforms and rough grassland as alternative strategic hazards where appropriate.

The proposals establish a phased long-term vision for the Seely Course, creating a more strategic, sustainable and visually cohesive golf course while preserving the distinctive character and landscape setting of Ramsdale Park Golf Club.
