Leeds Golf Design were appointed by Langland Bay Golf Club in October 2025 to prepare a comprehensive golf course assessment and long-term improvement masterplan for one of Wales’ most scenic and historic cliff-top golf courses.
Founded in 1904 and overlooking the spectacular Gower coastline, Langland Bay Golf Club is renowned for its dramatic landscape, strategic golf and panoramic sea views. The masterplan focuses on the sensitive and sustainable enhancement of the course whilst preserving its natural character and traditional golfing identity.
The proposals include strategic bunker renovation and reshaping, improvements to green surrounds and fairway presentation, drainage enhancement, selective woodland management and refinements to tees and playing corridors aimed at improving playability, visibility and year-round course performance. Particular attention was dedicated to creating a more consistent and natural bunker style integrated within the existing landforms while reducing unnecessary sand area and maintenance inputs.
The masterplan also includes recommendations for practice facility improvements, water management enhancements and sustainability-led landscape refinements designed to strengthen biodiversity, improve turf health and future-proof the course for modern golf whilst respecting the unique links and cliff-top setting of Langland Bay.
