Leeds Golf Design was appointed in 2024 to prepare a long-term masterplan for the historic Kennemer Golf & Country Club, one of the most prestigious golf venues in continental Europe and home of multiple editions of the Dutch Open, now part of the DP World Tour tournament calender.

Originally designed by the legendary Harry Colt and opened in 1928, Kennemer is a classic links-style course set within the natural dunes of Zandvoort. The masterplan focuses on a conservative and sustainable renovation strategy aimed at protecting and enhancing the historic Colt heritage while adapting the courses to the demands of the modern game and championship golf.

The proposals include sensitive bunker renovation and reshaping, restoration of strategic playing lines, improvements to visibility and safety, enhancement of native dune habitats and open sand areas, drainage improvements and selective woodland management to improve long-term turf health and biodiversity. Particular attention was dedicated to maintaining the natural character of the links landscape while improving playability, fairness and tournament presentation standards.

The masterplan also includes phased recommendations for practice facilities, course presentation and sustainability, ensuring the continued evolution of Kennemer while respecting the architectural principles established by Harry Colt more than a century ago.
